1. About this policy
Warden OS ("Warden", "we", "us" or "our") is provided by Weenja. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you use the Warden apps, any related browser extensions or desktop apps, and our website at getwarden.app (together, the "Services"). Weenja is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. Our Terms also apply.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, you sign in with Google, Apple or your email address. We receive your email address and, depending on the provider and your settings, your name and profile picture. We do not ask for or store a password.
- Profile and setup. Your display name, your goals, the apps and websites you choose to guard, your league, and your crew and invitations.
- Communications. Messages you send us, such as support requests and feedback.
Information collected when you use the Services
- Guarded app and website activity. When an app or website you have chosen to guard is in use, and for how long. We use this to spend your points and to lock guarded apps and sites when you run out. See section 4.
- Activity in Warden. Points earned and spent, focus sessions, medals, crew activity, nudges and settings.
- Device and technical information. Device model, operating system and app version, language, time zone, an app-specific install identifier, the status of the permissions Warden needs, and signals that help us confirm the app has not been tampered with.
- Usage and diagnostic information. How you interact with the app, performance data, logs and crash reports. This can include session recordings of Warden's own screens (never other apps), which help us find and fix problems. You can turn this off at any time in the app under You → Share usage data.
Information from other sources
- Health and fitness platforms. If you give permission, we read steps, workouts, heart rate and calories during workouts, and sleep from Health Connect or Apple Health. See section 5.
- Sign-in providers. Google or Apple share the account details described above when you sign in with them.
- App stores. Google Play or the App Store tell us about your purchases and subscription status. Payments are handled by the store; we never receive your full card details.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide and operate the Services, including points, leagues, medals, focus sessions, and locking and unlocking guarded apps and websites across your devices;
- run the social features you choose to use, such as crews, leaderboards, nudges and invitations;
- process purchases and manage subscriptions and seats;
- send you service messages, reminders and notifications;
- understand how the Services are used, fix problems and develop new features;
- keep the Services safe and fair, including preventing cheating, fraud and abuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Guarded apps and websites
Warden is designed to collect as little as possible about how you use your device. Warden checks which app is in use with the permissions your device provides, such as Usage Access on Android. Information about apps you have not chosen to guard stays on your device; we only receive totals, such as your daily minutes.
If you choose to guard websites, Warden needs to know when one of them is open. Depending on your crew's settings, it does this either with an accessibility service that reads only the address bar of your browser, or with a filter that runs only on your device and checks website names. In both cases the check happens on your device. Only the names of the websites you guard and the time you spend on them leave it. We do not collect your browsing history, the content of the pages you visit, or what you type. Warden asks for your permission before it turns either option on, and you can turn it off at any time in your device settings.
5. Health and fitness information
Health and fitness data is only collected if you grant permission. We use steps and workouts to calculate your points, and sleep only for medals; sleep never earns points. Your device processes the raw data and sends us summaries, such as step totals, workout duration and average heart rate, and sleep duration.
Warden's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use health and fitness data only to provide and improve the features you see in Warden. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or transfer it to third parties except to the service providers that store and process it on our behalf, to keep the Services secure, or as required by law. You can withdraw your permission at any time in Health Connect or Apple Health.
6. How we share information
- With your crew. Warden is a social game. Members of your crew can see your display name and picture, your points, rank and progress, the medals you earn, and events such as finishing a focus session, pausing or turning off Warden, or changing the apps you guard. They do not see your email address, your health data or what you do inside other apps.
- At your direction. When you share a medal, an invitation or a debug log, it goes where you choose to send it.
- With service providers. We work with companies that provide services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting and databases, authentication and email delivery, analytics and crash reporting, app integrity checks, payments through the app stores, and website hosting. They may only use personal information to provide their services to us.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Warden, our users or others.
- Business transfers. If Weenja is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
7. Our website
getwarden.app uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. Your theme choice is saved only in your browser.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days. Copies in backups and service provider logs are removed on their regular schedules. We may keep some information for longer where the law requires it, such as purchase records, or to resolve disputes and prevent fraud.
9. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, encrypted storage of your sign-in on your device, and access controls that limit access to those who need it. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach where the law requires it.
10. International transfers
Our main database is hosted in the European Union. Some of our service providers process information in other countries, including the United States. Where we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Your rights and choices
- Permissions. You can turn off app usage access, health access, website guarding and notifications at any time in your device settings. Some features will stop working, and your crew will see when Warden is no longer protecting your apps.
- Usage data. You can turn off analytics, diagnostics and session recordings in the app under You → Share usage data.
- Account deletion. You can delete your account in the app (You → Delete account) or as described on our delete account page.
- Access and other requests. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, contact us at hello@getwarden.app. We may need to verify your identity first.
EEA and UK users
We process personal information to perform our contract with you, on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Services, with your consent (for example, for health data and website guarding), and to comply with legal obligations. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California and other US states
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Subject to applicable law, you may request to know, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
12. Children
The Services are intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will notify you in the app before they take effect.
14. Contact us
